Sea shells, skin cells

Collected  sea shells, faintly moist, carrying the slightest trace of an odour: brine, decay and a light sweetness. They are ultimately remnants of what the tides have brought up; these shells once enclosed living flesh, now hollow, yet still retain the rigid curves. These brittle shells gifted as souvenirs become memory keepers and turn into sentimental pieces we ascribe meanings to. While such small pieces are compiled in our pockets so carelessly, they have once harboured a life in their most inner curves.
The main context behind this series is how the tissues that wrap us eventually decompose and become a pile of burried yet cherished bones, residues of loved ones. Somewhat resembling the life of a seashell, beautiful yet unsettling.
